CORNWALL Ontario – What an odd week in Cornwall. First photog Robert Rusaw gets a million dollars worth of news coverage for the Ottawa Bluesfest after deciding Confederate Flag shorts are a fashion statement.
The photog was snapped and became a news story and topic of discussion for thousands including a local facebook hate group run by a convicted criminal pictured below wearing, you guessed it, a Confederate flag cap.
The criminal also defended Rusaw and also had the flag waving on his mobile home in Bonville at one point.
Mike Crowder, who was fired for leaking medical info at the hospital he worked for while Mike Duffy was a patient, has no problem with flying a Nazi flag, but darn those neighbors that run their lawn mowers at 11AM while he’s sleeping.
The first incarnation of the group was taken down for racism only to be rebooted by its founder within 24 hours.
Oddly enough Bernadette Clement’s(a visible minority herself) riding association president, Jamie Labonte is an active member of the group.
I’m sure it must make Justin Trudeau proud.
The argument defending the Confederate flag is a really silly one. I get that people don’t like to be told what to wear or do, but in this world there are things that become symbols for hate and evil. They really are. The Swasika was not invented by the Nazi’s, but they sure own the brand. It is the ideals around some of these icons that inspire the weak and stupid, the sad cases where desperate people do desperate things after being inspired by such hate and evil.
Mr. Rusaw and his supporters clearly are not apologetic regarding his action or the flag with one member citing “conservative and country” idealism.
Now that’s a group that could be used to inspire tourism and economic development.
Now to our good Councilor Robert Brock Frost. I won’t show the video he’s launched as other media outlets have because frankly I don’t wish to give him the exposure of CFN’s audience.

Brock in his video says that these are what people have said about him and more. He deserves an award for having such a diversity of alleged sins.
What we do know is that Councilor Frost is a convicted criminal for his DUI.
We do no that his criminal lawyer offered Al Hatset, a real estate victim of his, a deal to settle a Nicaraguan Real Estate Deal.
We do know that he’s consistently lied about his affairs and admitted such lies such as his Quebec charges.
Mr. Frost at this point shouldn’t illicit much sympathy; yet here he is wanting to become the poster boy for victims of lies when he himself has participated and perpetuated such defamation.
He did in fact issue a press release for example stating that this writer made sexual advances so horrific that he couldn’t repeat them. He failed to mention that at that meeting at the Grind he still bought a large ad deal and shortly after sponsored our 5th Anniversary event at CFN which he also appeared at and was captured on video.
He also lied about me showing up to council with a group to “beat him up” and then show up at his house.
Luckily for myself the police this time didn’t charge me, but a Justice of the Peace did grant him a hearing to gain a restraining order which was subsequently dropped and never enforced although I did have a drug officer lean on me to not do my job as a journalist and ask Mr. Frost questions via email as well as the court costs in defending the ridiculous claims. (The gang btw was a retired CBSA officer, a minister attending council, and Rodney Rivette)
While his facebook friends like Gilles Latour, Sue Stewart, & Kevin Hargreaves may stand behind Mr. Frost what he has clearly done is not something that should illicit him any sympathy. I mean if you can’t take the heat you get out of the kitchen, right? Or move to Ottawa…
Brock Frost sponsoring a group for victims of defamation is like a rapist sponsoring a women’s shelter.
It’s an insult to the true victims of what goes on on the wild web in 2015.
This all comes down to the Cornwall brand and what we send as a message to the outside world.
Not one councilor or the mayor has asked Mr. Frost to step aside until his legal wranglings are cleared up.
Not one councilor or the mayor have demanded that Mr. Frost be stripped of his committees until he’s cleared.
It’s really odd how someone like Frost is still publicly supported after the things he clearly has done or how he amassed over 4,000 votes in the municipal election. At this pace he’ll be mayor in 2018…..
Final note. I like Dan Allaire, but what he wrote on the radio station’s website shows the Cornwall Culture and what needs to change.
“Let’s look forward. Let’s get back to the task at hand, let’s deal with city issues and ideas to improve this great city we live in. This video could have been just that…letting the constituents who voted for him know that he is committed and is ready to get back to work and put all that behind him.”
Dan the only way to move forward is to hold people accountable for the wrongs and send the right message to the community. People have to know that there is some price to pay for behaving like Brock Frost.
